Following the success of House of the Dragon, HBO is expanding the Game of Thrones realm with another prequel series. The house has officially confirmed a spinoff series centered on the historical event of Aegon Targaryen’s conquest, which formed the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.

Mattson Tomlin, an acclaimed screenwriter best known for his work on The Batman Part II, will pen the series. He also developed the Keanu Reeves action comic adaption BRZRKR and is currently showrunning an animated Terminator series on Netflix.

Aegon’s Conquest is a direct precursor of the popular television series House of the Dragon. Aegon’s Conquest is a direct precursor to the popular House of the Dragon, detailing the account of the Targaryens’ terrible and brutal conquest of Westeros.

The plot revolves around the invader Aegon Targaryen, who conquered the continent of Westeros with his sister’s spouses, Rhaenys and Visenya, and their dragons. Aegon successfully unified six of the Seven Kingdoms in two years, with only Dorne resisting.

Since the main Game of Thrones series ended in 2019, several prequels (and one sequel idea) have been under development, albeit several are no longer active.

So far, the franchise has only greenlit two more series: House Of The Dragon, which will premiere its second season this summer, and A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, which begins production this year and is based on Martin’s Dunk And Egg novels.
