Iqtidar: Mehru is back with Rafay, but her problems are more serious. The powerful Saman Shah, whose son was involved in a hit-and-run with her younger brother, will she confront him? However, given that Shani was racing his bicycle across a crossing, we wonder if he wasn’t also partially at blame for the collision.

A Story That Can Be Related

As politicians and other powerful figures are depicted as living in a world apart from the rest of us, Iqtidar is providing viewers with a relatable narrative. Mehru and her family will now have to contend with a strong family that believes they have the right to behave anyway they see appropriate, including controlling law enforcement or ignoring their own wrongdoings. In this instance, the victim of a hit-and-run was Shahnawaz’s younger brother, Zain. The problem was that Zain fled the scene and then overpowered police officers by avoiding jail time and maybe more legal action, even though it appeared that Zeeshan was also speeding and possibly equally at blame.

Was Zeeshan at fault?

It would have been beneficial if Zeeshan had not been speeding or, at the at least, had been wearing a helmet while riding a bike, even though the plot is designed to pit the affluent, entitled family against “ordinary civilians.” We recognize that the average biker in our nation does not typically wear a helmet or even afford one, but both automobile drivers and bikers should follow traffic safety regulations, right? They both agree that speeding is unacceptable in this situation.

Proceedings between Shahnawaz and Amal.

“What is Shahnawaz trying to say?” “If he needed time earlier, he seems to be totally invested in Amal now, which makes us wonder why he doesn’t just go ahead and marry her.” Oh, we forget, the plot twist will involve him falling for Mehru, who will now confront Shahnawaz as she fights for her brother, but we wish the character wasn’t so in-your-face. Mehru, the independent, sharp-thinking young girl, comes off as rude, tactless, and a little annoying. Although we know she’s standing up for her rights, she needs to tone it down a little.Sincerely, we want to support her, yet her witty remarks, which are intended to be humorous at times and empowering at others, appear to fall flat.

Hazardous Tropes

There are some poisonous individuals in the story, and naturally, how would it be a Pakistani drama without them? We have seen Arooj’s mother far too frequently in our stories, as seen by the expression in her eyes as she plots Mehru’s demise. We assume that it will occur once more soon. Not only that, but Arooj herself will contribute to the poisoning, which is, let’s face it, a well-known plan.

What is lacking?

Saman Shah, the haughty, cunning, and powerful female politician who knows how to manipulate her opponent, and Shahnawaz, the politically aspirational son who also appears to have a sense of duty, at least for his brother (so all is not lost), are two examples of Iqtidar that can be fascinating to watch from a political perspective. Mehru and Shahnawaz both have strong feelings for their younger brothers, which makes for an intriguing “what comes next” story given how the drama is currently balanced. However, Mehru’s overly sanctimonious and somewhat flat demeanor, as well as Shahnawaz’s excessive actions regarding power abuse and profound insensitivity to the public, may ultimately detract from the viewing experience.

For those who are expecting for a plot as promising as the cast and creators, we hope the drama can overcome the aforementioned and provide us with a relatable story where the characters’ journeys are believable and relatable!
