At Gucci’s Milan Fashion Week show, creative director Alessandro Michele honored twins and their relationship. “Gucci Twinsburg” was the name of the show, a reference to the Ohio town that hosts an annual twin festival.

At Gucci’s Milan Fashion Week event on Friday, the Italian luxury brand stunned viewers by sending identically dressed twins down the catwalk. Fashionistas saw double. For the “Gucci Twinsburg” presentation, which is a reference to the Ohio town that hosts an annual twin festival, creative director Alessandro Michele paid tribute to twins and their bond.

Before a wall was raised to reveal their siblings on the opposite side wearing identical ensembles, the presentation started with lone models on the catwalk.

In a dramatic conclusion, the siblings strolled hand in hand.

“My mother, Eralda, and my mother, Giuliana, are my parents. According to show notes, Alessandro Michele, design director of Gucci, wrote, “Two remarkable women who made their twinship the ultimate seal of their existence.”

“The same body housed them both. They combed their hair and dressed similarly. Magically, they were mirrored. The other was multiplied by one. My entire universe was neatly doubled over.

Michele’s designs started with a bright red belted dress and a black blazer jacket with trouser legs that resembled suspenders. Spanners and bolts were printed on vibrant dresses, dazzling silver jackets were cropped and had big shoulders, and biker jackets were worn with skirts that had cutouts.

In addition, models sported a variety of styles, including ruffled silk skirts, floral kimono-inspired patterns, and floor-length trench coats. Snakeskin boots, leopard print tights, long beaded jewelry, and sunglasses were among the accessories.

“It’s exactly the impossibility of the perfectly identical that nourishes the magic of twins,” Michele stated.

“Twinsburg engages in this game, creating a conflict between the original and the replica. Clothes duplicate like magic. They appear to lose their unique status.

“The result is unclear and alienating. Almost a split in the concept of identity, followed by the realization that seemingly identical bodies exhibit distinct characteristics when wearing the same clothing.

The last day of Milan Fashion Week is Monday.
