Taxpayers were given an extension for their March 2025 returns, but they still had to pay their obligations by the original deadline.

The deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the tax period of March 2025 has been extended by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), to April 25, 2025.

Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue, Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), Regional Tax Offices (RTOs), Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), and Medium Taxpayers Offices (MTOs) received comprehensive instructions from FBR.

Both Federal Excise Returns and Sales Tax Returns for the March 2025 tax period, which were initially due on April 18, 2025, are covered by the extension. If the outstanding sales tax obligations are paid by the initial deadline, this extension will be granted.

Additionally, the February 2025 Sales Tax and Federal Excise Return deadline, which was first set for March 18, 2025, and then moved to April 13, 2025, has been further extended to April 25, 2025, subject to the same requirement that all outstanding liabilities be paid.

These extensions are consistent with the authority granted to the FBR under sections 43 of the Federal Excise Act of 2005 and 74 of the Sales Tax Act of 1990.
