James Gunn, writer-director of “Superman” (2025) and CEO of DC Studios, teased fans with a first glimpse at David Corenswet in Superman’s outfit. On Monday, James revealed the first look on social media.

Corenswet, who has replaced Henry Cavil in the “Superman” franchise, had previously appeared in Netflix’s “The Politician” (2019) and “Hollywood” (2020), as well as a few feature films, including the horror drama “Pearl” (2022).

Many people were heartbroken when Henry Cavil, who had played “Superman” for nearly a decade (since “Man of Steel” (2013), was replaced. However, the first glance at Corenswet in the outfit has revived the faith of many long-time fans of the franchise.

“Superman” also stars Emmy winner Rachel Brosnahan opposite Corenswet, with Nicholas Hoult playing the main adversary. Warner Bros. will premiere the film in cinemas next summer, on July 11, 2025.
