The producer of Sardaar Ji stated that by forgoing an Indian release, the movie will lose 40% of its earnings.

In the midst of intense tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, Diljit Dosanjh gets enmeshed in controversy since he cast Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The movie won’t be released in India due to growing calls for a boycott of Diljit Dosanjh. The film’s producer, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, claims that by forgoing an Indian distribution, the movie will lose over half of its earnings.

“My previous film, Jatt and Juliet 3, which was directed by Diljit and Neeru, came out last year,” Gunbir Singh Sidhu told NDTV. At the global box office, it was the first Punjabi film to earn Rs 100 crore. Of that, 60% came from abroad business and 40% from business in India. Assume, then, that we have roughly 40 crore in revenue from India and 60 crore from outside. Given this circumstance, it is evident that 40% of our revenue loss has occurred.

“We decided not to release the film in India after learning about this attack because we did not want to offend our people in any way,” he continued. This incident hurt us as well. Because of our significant investment, we made the decision to only release the movie abroad while keeping this honor in mind. It was agreed to release there as no foreign authority had any restrictions. We didn’t post the trailer to YouTube in India or engage in any other marketing efforts.

“We have made the firm decision that we will no longer collaborate with any Pakistani artists going forward,” Gunbir stated. “I have no two opinions on this,” he continued. It would be unappreciative behavior if a nation that is also cooperating with us continued to launch such attacks. Additionally, I oppose it.

Diljit Dosanjh, meantime, recently spoke out about the topic, telling BBC Asian Network that the project was finished before any of the present political tensions arose. On June 27, Amar Hundal’s Sardaar Ji 3 will be released internationally. It will not, however, be shown in Indian theaters.
